I think the younger people or people who never watched buffy or interview with the vampire ... and have are now in the "vampire" fase have to watch both of them .... and judge again : ) I think this poll would look a lot different
I just don't quite enjoy reading Twilight. I think a lot of that is due to the fact it doesn't feel like it's respectable to over 1000 years of vampire folk lore. What buffy does right is that it takes ideas and concepts that have been around for over several thousand years and then tries to tell a modern story. There's a very good reason as to why Angel CAN'T go to Sunnydale High School, there's a very good story and consequence when why Spike Falls in Love with Buffy, and Buffy grows as the series progresses.
I actually stoped watching buffy when she died the second time, but in the back of my head I slowly respected it and just suddenly realized it when the show was gone, "HOLY COW, Buffy is an amazing hero, better then actually MEN!"
No one seems to remember the origin of the vampyr, people these days think of either dracula clad in his gentlemans eveningware, or this newer "sparklybishi" kind that frankle I find disgusting. None seem even aware that they were originly the fear of disease spead by rotting corpses! To this new fad of "reasoning with undead" I say BAH! These horrors, these abominations of the night that have no right to exist, have no place in this world!
/Rant
But seriously, In my own opinion twilight will be crap (I have yet to see it but the plot speaks for itself) and buffy, while having it's highlights, treats the subject with humour. I am more a fan of grittier vampyr fiction, think of the powers shown in "a vampire in brooklin" while it is rather comedic the vampire is suitably villainous. See also the game "vampire rain" for the viciousness of these beasts.
Remember, the undead are forever tainted by their very state. Look up the older tales at some point.
I chose Buffy. I just rewatched the first and second season, third is waiting. The second season is my favorite by far.
I've also read the Twilight series - it went a little downhill with every book. I think the first book was okay, and I guess I would have liked it a lot when I was younger.

I voted for buffy, btw...
No sparkly fags with no personalities for me!

My favorite vampire character is still Lestat.
