With your work the design is strong enough to support both techniques.

Gradients are nice, but really well done flat color work is an art in its simplicity. Gradients are just a step between flat and full painted work.

I think the flat graphic approach works better with the stylized look of your art. It could also be that the piece you've chosen to show modeling & texture has a bit too much of it overall , taking away from the punch & snap which your work has. But I always love seeing your cute girls!

I find gradient textures are more difficult to pull off and can often come off cheesey but you do a wonderful job with them

They're both great, but overall, I like the flat ones better.
