Been busy these last few days, had a hospital appointment yesterday.
When I was pregnant with Milo I had these really terrible pains in my stomach now and then(wasnt anything to do with baby, he is great!)
I thought they were just part of pregnancy and would go away after I had the baby. Its been 5 months since I gave birth  and I still keep getting these pains. So I finally went to see the doc and he put me on some pills... they didnt work so I went back again... they sent me for a scan... Had my scan yesterday, the sonographer said he could see what the problem was... I have gall stones! Bloody marvelous!! Apparently can be caused by pregnancy! ARGHHHH
I now have to wait 3 weeks to go back to my docs for him to tell me the same thing the sonographer told me yesterday! I dont know what what will happen next, If I'll have to have my gallbladder out or what. I dont want it out now ive done some research online! sounds horrible! :cries: I dont want any more ops, had my tonsils removed, Ive had my appendix out when I was 5, it exploded! lol (previous ops can also be a cause of gallstones) plus both my mum and my sister have had problems so maybe its hereditary? I dont know.

Any of you guys had ur gall bladder removed?

Until I go back 2 the docs im avoiding all fatty foods, how fun! :noes:

one side effect i've heard off from my fam is that after it was taken out when you eat you have to go straight to the bathroom not something
i'm looking foward too. Im on the same boat as you had my baby 2 months ago found out yesterday i have gallstone GREAT!!! would have been nice to know that could happen before right so we could have a better diet? I agree too pain is just as bad or worst than labor it's crazy.

My mom had her gallbladder taken out when I was little. She had 3 stones I think, the surgery went fine. They went through a small cut on her belly button and two next two it. Since the gallbladder helps you digest fatty foods she has to be careful about how much fatty stuff she eats.

my dad had his galbladder removed a little while ago, and he seemed fine, so i wouldn't fret it.

On the bright side you can say you've got 3/3 for common illnesses that may result in removal of a whole bodily chunk.

Dunno how completely relevant this is but I was watching a show today where a woman ended up having her gallbladder removed and it turned out it had a hole and was leaking bile out into her abdomen and she was a lot happier without it.... Maybe you will be too?

It depends on the size of the stones hun.

Sometimes you can get rid of them with medications, but it all depends on the size.

I've had to wait six months to get in to see a doctor before, but I suppose that was because she was a specialist (funnes D:)

Hope you get well soon hun!

my roommate has the same problem...but she uses it to her "advantage" to skip out on tests and tell her teachers she's in the hospital...when she's feeling fine. They really need to ask her for a doctors note. Anyways hope you get to feeling better.

One of my teachers had his gallbladder out and he was up, about, and teaching a few days later. He couldn't carry any large amounts, but he was fine. Of course he had the laser surgery which heals faster and is just all around better, so ask for the laser version!
